The world we live in can be incredibly polarising.
From childhood, we are taught to fear difference – to steer clear of people who we don’t already know, and to reject ideas that don’t already fit into the mould of what we believe.
The rise of the algorithm has only made this worse, confining us to the comfort of our pre-existing beliefs and the safety of our pre-existing social circles. Jailing us inside an echo chamber of not only fixed goals, but also fixed biases.
Curius is an app that attempts to remedy this by connecting people across diverse backgrounds to share their experiences. Through daily reminders and a story map, Curius uses proximity-based storytelling to peak our curiosity for the people around us, in the spaces that we visit and revisit everyday.
Whether you’re on your daily commute to work, or on a short break between classes, Curius seeks to bring serendipity, exploration and risk-taking back into our lives.
